The ML110 Gen HPE Tower Server has 3 Different Chassis options. With optional drive cages installed, the server supports up to 4 LFF non-hot-plug drives on the 4 Bay Non Hot-Plug Chassis (776933-B21) , 8 LFF hot-plug drives on the 4 Bay Hot-Plug Chassis (776934-B21) or 16 SFF hot-plug drives on the 8 Bay Hot-Plug Chassis (776935-B21) . If only one drive cage is installed then it must be installed in box 1. The ML110 HPE Tower server does not support mixing SFF and LFF drives. Each Chassis comes with only 1 Drive Cage and the respected Backplane for that Drive Cage. All chassis comes with the System board for Intel Xeon E5 - 2600 v3 and v4 processors ( 846956 - 001).
Are you going to install GPU Accelerators at all?
Well this ML110 HPE Tower Server supports up to 1 of these three models on PCI-e Slot 1. The following models are allowed in this server.
- HPE NVIDIA Quadro M2000 SW 4GB Graphics Accelerator - P8Y48A - 855180-001
- HPE NVIDIA Quadro K2200 SW 4GB Graphics Accelerator - J0G89A - 765148-002
- HPE NVIDIA Quadro K4200 Graphics Accelerator - J0G90A - 783875-001
- Needs HP ML110 Gen9 GPU Supporting Holder Kit (791711-001)
Lets Talk Cooling!
Now that you have your GPU figured out, let make sure it's cooled properly. If you install any PCI Cards, Adapters, or GPU's. You'll need the to install a PCI Fan Module (791710-001) along with the PCI air baffle (791709-001 ). Together they come in a HP ML110 Gen9 PCI Fan and Baffle Kit (784580-B21).
There are options to upgrade the System fan module (92x32 mm - 791708-001 ) to the Upgrade fan module (92x38 mm - 791717-001 ). The Upgraded Fan Module becomes mandatory when you install any 140W processor kit or SAS SSD is selected, then this optional kit must be ordered.
Storage Controllers?
The base / Entry storage controller module is the HPE Dynamic Smart Array B140i Controller. NHPE SATA is limited to B140i controller. Not only can you have SATA drives, you can install a SAS controller with Flash Back Write Control (FBWC) and support 2/4 12Gb SAS Ports. There are a few rules to which controller needs to be selected with certain drive cages and what cables kits are needed. The CTO only shows SAS controllers without the Smart Storage Battery (727258-B21) or Holders (786710-B21) these items will need to be installed as well for full FBWC support.
When installing 16 SFF Drives you must select the HP Smart Array P840/4GB FBWC 12Gb 2 -ports Int SAS Controller (726897-B21 ) and 2 HP ML110 Gen9 Mini SAS P440/P840 Cable Kit (789651-B21 ).
When installing 4 4 LFF or 8 SFF with the HP H240 12Gb 2-ports Int Smart Host Bus Adapter (726907-B21 - 779134-001 ). You will also need to install 2 of the HP ML110 Gen9 Mini SAS H240 Cable Kit (789648-B21 - 791719-001 - 789648-B21 ). Each Cable kit supports up to 4 Drives.

HPE 350W ATX Gen9 Power Supply Kit (776442-B21) is the standard non hot-plug Power Supply Unit installed on this HPE ML110 Tower Server. This can be upgraded to a 550W ATX-Gen9 Non hot-plug PSU (776444-B21 ) when installing a GPU and other PCI adapters that need more power. There is a hot-plug version that accommodates 1 or 2 HPE 750W Common Slot Gold Hot Plug Power Supply Kit (512327-B21 ). To install the 750W PSU you'll need a HP ML110 Gen9 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit (784582-B21). This comes with the new PSU cage, Backplane and top bracket. (791712-001). If only one of the two Redundant PSU are installed, you must fill the other slot with the PSU Blank (698883-001).
